Meet our trainer
Coach David Igliori:
In my past life I have owned and operated 3 Restaurant Bars, a small chain of children's hair salons, and invested in commercial real estate. However, I have always been committed to exercise for maintaining not only my appearance, but to satisfy my need to regulate myself mentally too. Walking, running, and hitting a heavy bag is my favorite form of training.
I have currently been a fitness trainer (full time) for 15 years. I started my gym iFlextrain Fitness For Autism in 2012. It was told to me that working with people with Autism is my gift, and that I was good at it. Having worked with my longtime friends son when he was 10 or 11 (now 22) I realized that there was truly a need for what I do with fitness. It took me a few years to move in that direction, but here I am.
I opened my gym and it ended up really feeding my soul! I love what I do. And if I can make just a minute of a difference in one of my clients with autism and their family, then that's perfect!
I always make it clear to parents that I am not a therapist, I'm a fitness trainer! But I have to admit that now I have also become a mentor.
I don't really offer "adaptive PE". What we do at Fitness For Autism Gym is typical gym training that one might see at other gyms(or most likely not) such as using Medicine balls, big ropes, free weights, sled pushes and pulls,boxing/hitting big heavy bags along with a bunch of other fun exercises. We also have a few specially designed pieces of fitness equipment designed by myself.
Fitness For Autism Gym is all about learning independence, working with your body even when your tired or frustrated with your day... Most leave smiling and happy they came into the gym. A person just needs to find what works for THEM! That's something I work on with my clients. We will try a lot of methods, but we ultimately want to find the one thing that feeds you, and we focus on that!
Parents are welcome to stay in and watch, or leave and take a much needed break to go shop or have coffee. I encourage parents to ask me questions or tell me what they would specifically like me to work on with their child. It's about working together.
What's important to me is that my clients feel accomplished and confident after leaving a gym session.
I also train adults and have done so for years. Let me know what you might be looking for, and I'll do my best to help you achieve it. Most of my adult clients are those who are 35+ but I am not limited to a certain age. I welcome all who want to add fitness to their lives.
I will be offering a new class shortly called "Sledge Fitness Class". Check in with me for details.
Feel free to contact Coach David with any questions or to setup a time to meet.
